World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades provide players with the ability to upgrade equipment that they already own. This can be done by any item upgrader NPC.

Upgrades can boost the stats of an item and also add additional features based on the type of item upgrader mod. Examples include Whistan’s shield for FB Sorcs, or Goldwraps for caster builds.

Armour

Armour is one of the key things that keeps Link protected from damage in most situations. While it can't be upgraded like weapons, it is able to be improved in different ways to increase its defence capabilities.

The principle of armour is to safeguard animals or people from physical harm or injury whether from physical assault or from an array of dangers to the environment or activity. Historically, armour was mostly constructed from leather or fabric, but later metal protections were also utilized, especially in military applications like heavy cavalry or combat drones.

As with weapons there are a myriad of ways in which armor can be upgraded, however, most of them will require a visit to one of the four Great Fairy Fountains located throughout Hyrule. Each fountain offers a different level of upgrade and more protection levels requiring more rupees as well as materials.

First, Armor Upgrades are permanent upgrades. Once they've been applied, they can't be removed until you own a different piece of equipment that has the same upgrade. It is essential to only apply the highest grade of upgrades to your equipment and ensure that you have the materials needed to complete them.

Upgrade components are a mix of components that you can slot into weapons, armors, trinkets and gathering tools in order to gain an attribute bonus. They require equipment to be of a certain degree to accept the upgrade and can be upgraded in the same manner as other items.

Upgrades are a combination of Smithing Stones (a type of stone) and Runes. They can be used to boost the stats of weapons and improve their scaling with other stats. They can be found from enemies that are dropped into the open world, purchased from certain merchants or found as drops in combat.

Two NPCs can upgrade your weapon: the Blacksmith Hewg in the Roundtable Hold hub zone and the Smithing Master Iji, in the Road to Manor hub zone. Both of these NPCs will take your Smithing Stones and Runes in exchange for a higher-level version of the weapon and an upgrade.

Prioritize upgrading your top-in-slot items first. Then, upgrade the items that you aren't likely to replace anytime soon. Upgrade your weapon first, then upgrade your chest, shoulders, hands, and feet when you are planning to play in a melee-based build. Similar principles apply to Magic and Utility Items, with the caveat that some procs may be better than others depending on your playstyle. Armour is no different, with some refining better than others.

Magic Items

A character can only upgrade one item of magic at one time. If an upgrade project has been canceled, no further upgrades will be planned for the item. Magic items that are upgraded will cost twice the gold they would normally cost to create or buy, but they can also have extra advantages.

A magical item is any item that has special properties or effects. These items are mostly weapons, but they can also be shields, armors or cloaks as well as potions. They can also be rings, scrolls or other items. Some of these items are telepathic.

The majority of magic items be enhanced in their abilities. This can make them more useful to a player, or it can help them overcome any difficult situation. Infused weapons can offer bonus damage against a particular enemy type, for example. This is particularly useful for characters who have reached a level where they are likely to encounter the same kind of monster in dungeons repeatedly.

A ring that is infused can grant the ability to resist piercing, bludgeoning or slashing injuries from non-magical attacks (not including silver-plated ones) until the next time the character takes a lengthy rest. Certain enchanted objects possess special powers that allow the character to cast spells that are not in their list of classes. These enchanted objects require an Intelligence check (Arcana) and the spell is determined by rolling a table that is based on the number of Intelligence points expended.

Other items that can be enchanted may allow the user to alter their appearance, or create an entirely new one. These items can be especially beneficial for characters who were forced to leave their home, or are in a place in which they are not welcome. A magical item could grant them invisibility or make them invisible for anyone, excluding the person they choose to.

Utility Items

Utility items are equipment that do not fit into the categories of Armor, Clothing or Weapons, and provide various capabilities. Utility items are not compatible with each other, in contrast to Armor or Weapons. Most utility items have an effect that the player can activate by using them, but some have additional abilities that are activated when the user presses the button or activates the ability.

The most popular kind of utilitarian Item Upgrade is the Flashlight that illuminates the surrounding area. Other options include the Helicopter Hat and Rocket Boots, which allow the player to be floating in the air while moving, and the Jetpack which allows players to accelerate in any direction while on the ground. In the Engineering section you can instantly produce several utility items, while others are available only through research projects or experimental projects on the Proving Ground.

In addition to the items that are available in the standard inventory, players can unlock additional useful items of utility by buying them from the Atomic Shop and also from seasonal Scoreboard rewards (such as the Shadow Goggles). Some of these items can be upgraded for more effective use.

Most utility items increase an individual combat ability or give the player some kind of advantage when it comes to navigation. Sharpening stones, created by a Weaponsmith will increase power and Ferocity while Maintenance Oils, crafted by an Huntsman will increase concentration and healing power. Other items of utility can be utilized by players to increase Damage or Condition Damage.

All XCOM soldiers can be equipped with a useful item upgrade at the beginning of the campaign. Eventually, an additional slot can be obtained by acquiring certain types of armor or by completing engineering, research or experimental projects in the Proving Ground. During the Alien Hunters DLC, additional slots are added by equipping the Grenade Launcher which allows players to equip a Smoke Grenade or Bomb in an additional grenade slot, while an offensive grenade can be placed in the main slot for grenades.
