Which Lightweight Double Pushchair Should You Buy?

It's easy to move around in the lightweight double pushchair especially if you have children of varying age groups. They are easy to fold, steer and transport up and down stairs.

The majority of the light double pushchairs we tested were side-by-side models. These are the best for children who can sit without assistance, since they lack car seat compatibility. Side-by-side pushchairs that are lightweight aren't 100% foolproof, howeverwhen your children are at the same age or stage they might be fighting over who rides in which seat. If they're different heights, a tandem model could be better for them, as it allows them to look at each other.

Tandem

While side-by-side models are more suitable for siblings of the same age tandem pushchairs are light and lightweight, and have their own charms. Some can fit carseats that are larger, and others come with Reversible seats. Some even come with an extra carrycot or a reclined seat that can be flipped in the middle. They tend to be more spacious and easier to move into and out of the baskets, though they tend to be smaller than those of single buggies. However, it looks fantastic and is simple to use. One of the most impressive aspects about it is its single-handed fold - although it will require some practice, Kirstie in our Lab said it's "genius". It can't be folded with the carrycot attached but the mechanism for attaching and removing it is easy and quick.

Tandem lightweight cheap double buggy strollers will generally have a more precise turning compared to side-byside models. However, they could be harder to drive on uneven surfaces and curbs. They are also slower to accelerate and are heavier to move. This puts strain on your back.

Another alternative is a convertible double buggy which starts off as an individual and then you can add adapters to make it into a double. It could include a second seat, carrycot or both in front. Children can share a seat. Some can also consider including a buggyboard that helps an older child keep pace with a younger brother or sister.

The Uppababy Vista V2 can be converted into a twin stroller-sized pram by purchasing additional cocoons at PS59 each. The cocoons create an open space for infants. These can be placed side by side or attached to each other's faces and you can use them in conjunction with the infant car seat that is included with the pushchair (as as long as you choose the right one). Single-to-Double

Ideal for families who love to be outdoors and are looking to upgrade their single stroller, this light double buggy can be converted into a jogger thanks to a nifty kit that includes air-filled tyres, as well as all terrain double buggy-wheel suspension. Parents also liked the fact that it could accommodate infant carriers and car seats from multiple brands, including those which aren't usually fit in other double buggies.
