The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as dirt detector) are a plus.

Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

However, it's a good robot vacuum choice for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can work when you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also features strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competitors' compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and better-looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful however it will cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum mop cleaner robot and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For larger houses it's worth looking for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot vacuum cleaner to clean one particular area of your house by using the app or voice controls. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might think from its price. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It features an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.robotic-vacuum-cleaner-cleaning-the-room-while-wom-2024-11-07-13-20-10-utc-min-jpg-original.jpg
