Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning both dry debris and wet mess in one go without the need to switch devices. They can also reduce space in comparison to two separate units, particularly in smaller living areas.

A good combination bot should have impressive navigation and obstacles avoidance. Find models that automatically empty their bin, refill their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads using an appropriate dock.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the simplest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you up and running with a clean and complete dust bag, hard floor solution and water tank in no time at all.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and automatic vacuum cleaner and mop well. Its mops spin at high speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of dirt, pet hair, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, as well as a selection of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app that lets you choose the type of cleaning you want for each room.

For instance, you can opt for the robot to clean up the living and kitchen but take it easy in the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and smart navigation technology are excellent too, with the robot being capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. Its only issue is that the robot tends to crash into walls and objects at full speed. However looking at the cleaning history on the app will tell you exactly what the robot accomplished, where it's going, and which obstacles it has encountered or avoided.

The docking station has an LCD display that displays the time when maintenance is required for cleaning up debris and cleaning the water tank that is dirty. It can also mix detergent automatically into the water tank, with a 600ml bottle of the eufy's solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long run time. The mop can operate for 184 mins in Quiet Mode, and the vacuum can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or returning back to the base. You can also view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is intuitively laid out and easily understood, though we would like to be able distinguish between a mop only vacuum mop cleaner robot and mop and vacuum clean when examining a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's most popular best robot hoover vacuum and mop. The model of this year features two agitators built into its mopping pad. This enhances the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has improved suction power, allowing it to remove small hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners may be unable to pick up.

This Roborock model, just like the other two I tried is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it get around obstacles like walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates two cameras that can recognize objects, determining if they're walls or other surfaces. It is able to change its direction automatically and clean them without stumbling.

It's the most expensive model I've tried however it also comes with the most features. Its sleek and angular design is eye catching and only has three physical buttons. The power button, which restarts the cleaning process, a mop button that doubles as a child lock, and a home-button to send the robot to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid reveals the 350ml dust bin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank is self-emptying, and the bin is auto-refilling.

The only drawback I could find with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. You can replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's a challenge to remove the mount for washing manually. I've observed that any soft carpet that the robot touches will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these using the Roborock app, which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to plan cleanings and monitor the battery's life. You'll need to jump through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. This is a shame considering the performance otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

This is a great feature that enables the X40 to avoid damaging floors by excessive back-and forth movements.

In contrast to other robots that only focus on one thing, the X40 can perform both vacuuming and mopping simultaneously or separately. It can also be programmed to skip areas with carpets and mop only hard floors, or vice versa. It can be controlled via the Dreame app or with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for a seamless voice-controlled operation.

The app is simple to use and intuitive and the X40 comes with a variety of smart features that are easy to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, view floor plans and mapping and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and notify you when it's done.

The X40 is easy to maintain and has many convenient features that make it a great choice for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the trash bin into a 3.2 L bin, washes mop pads and refills them with fresh water and cleaning solution. It will also tell you whether the mop pad is at its maximum capacity and notify you of the situation before it overflows.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models on the market. It does have several characteristics that make it stand out. Its mops have a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It uses two high-speed mops to clean floors more thoroughly than the standard method, and it comes with the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can remove pet hair and smaller dirt particles - in addition to removing spills and wet spots.

The mops are also cleaned and dried inside the base station after every use. This is an excellent feature since it prevents the growth of odours and mould in storage, and also makes the mop system more efficient. It's a system that we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuum and mop models and it could be a good way of keeping your home hygienic for longer.

There's an impressive amount of options available that include the ability to schedule cleaning and adjust a variety of preferences. These can be set via the app or direct buttons on the unit itself. The app is easy to use and has many options for customising your cleaning routine. It also comes with a number of features that aren't offered on other robots, like the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects dust particles.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most fashionable robots we've seen on the market, with a white and metallic design that looks classy and sophisticated. It is a little heavier at 4kg than the other robots listed on this list but it's not a lot of weight. It is solid and well-built. The mopping design is also excellent and the double-rotating mop is great for hard floors and in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
