1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO are the same robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. It's self vacuum-charging, self-navigating, and the most important feature of all -- it has a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot via the app or via voice.

In our testing the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface kinds, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though the dust bin is self-emptying which removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines and top rated robot vacuum to move around the room and sweep an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. After being connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The main drawback of the V10 is its short run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is an average, not an exceptional, run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. That's still enough run time to get rid of the majority of a typical-sized home but not long enough to clean every area (though a second run-through usually does the trick). That's not to say this model doesn't have its advantages: It's lighter and agile than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming efficiency is better on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have lots of money to spend on a robot. It's capable of sucking up most kinds of debris in our tests, and often passes over the same areas multiple times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front side helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice feature.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capability of more sophisticated models such as our top choices and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. Because of this, it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it frequently will run out of battery before returning to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects in that it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.

It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and can perform better on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's no surprise, then, that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet bot cleaner AI+ has a cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings and much more. It's easy to comprehend and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). However, it didn't do particularly well with taller objects like cords and socks which was disappointing.
