Upgrade components

Glyphs

Glyphs also evoke a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.

Each glyph has a set of values that it can improve a stat by, as shown on the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This is the maximum value that a glyph can enhance a stat by but not the amount it actually increases it by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the item upgrading you're in awe of it.

The majority of upgrade components that are slotted into items cannot be repaired or replaced without removing the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use, but it's not been applied to gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel. This will create a new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

You can take out the glyph using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item where the glyph is placed will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be recovered with the glyph shards.

Recycling an item adds small amount of points to its gauge of level. This amount is determined based on the item's rarity and its level. Therefore, higher-leveled items are more valuable for recycling than lower-leveled ones.
