The Roomba j7+ is iRobot's smartest robot vacuum to date. Its biggest advancement, however, is its camera-based obstacle detection system. This uses AI to detect objects such as charging cables and shoes. It's also the first to automatically send you a picture of an object it encounters so you can tell it to stay clear of it in the future.

The Combo J7+ is the best robot mop that we have ever tested. It cleans up dirt and spills easily and leaves no trace of it was there. The iRobot application makes it simple to control. It can schedule cleanings and create Keep Out Zones to ensure that it doesn't vacuum in areas you don't wish to. It's compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant so you can start it and stop it by voice.

The design is also more appealing than the other models. It has an elegant, top piece that appears like an toy, not the loud and annoying robot. Clean Base's Automatic Dirt removal System is also self-emptying which can cut down on cleaning time.

In our tests, we observed that the j7+ swiftly eliminated dirt, dust and hair from pets. The counter-rotating rubber brushes kept the debris in one location instead of scattering it across the floor. The iRobot Home App is easy to use, but we found it less reliable as other robotic cleaner apps. It can take some time to download updates and it's sometimes difficult to determine whether they're working until you see them in action.

2. Roborock Q5+

If you're looking for a vacuum that does more than simply clean floors, the best automatic vacuum choice is probably a hybrid. This kind of robot usually has a built-in water tank that allows them to vacuum and mop your home at the same time. They also have a number of additional features, such as smart mapping, small obstacles avoidance and even the ability to dry and wash mopping pads. They're expensive at full retail but often lower prices on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Roborock produces some of our most loved robotic vacuums and the Q5+ doesn't disappoint. It's their most affordable auto-empty model. While it's not equipped with certain features you'll find on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still an excellent option if you're willing to sacrifice a bit to save some hundred dollars.

The Q5+ is noticeably soft around obstacles like wall legs and table legs which makes it a good option for homes with a lot of furniture. It's also very thorough when it comes to cleaning up dust bunnies, which is an area where cheaper robot vacuum cleaner vacuums often fail. The navigation technology in the Q5+ is fantastic and has very few missed corners and on walls.

The Q5+, just like other Roborock products can be controlled with just a few buttons on the device, or via the Roborock App. The app lets you start and stop cleaning. You can also set up schedules, create virtual barriers and no-go zones or modify your home map or re-label the rooms.

If you decide to go with the Q5+ model, it ships with a new auto-empty dock designed specifically to make this robot simple to maintain. It requires a screwdriver for install, but once in place, emptying the bin is simple. It also has a large LCD display that is great to have when creating schedules or changing settings. This isn't a necessary feature for most people however it can help you keep the track of the intervals between maintenance for your robot with ease.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a clever, well-rounded mop and vacuum. It's capable of both mopping and vacuuming. Its design is among the most innovative in the market however, it's costly.

The base station looks nice and hides it when not in use, and its size is relatively compact. But the station's main selling factor is its ability to automate many tasks and functions that other robots will leave to you. It can store clean and dirty water, electrolyzes and heats the water (which most other robovacs require you to do) also emptying the dustbin after vacuuming, and ensures that your robot charged and clean.

Its vacuuming capabilities are impressive as well. It's one of the few robovacs I've tested that do a really good job of cleaning up debris from plain floors, and is not nearly as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot the 900 series.

But the Freo X Ultra has its shortcomings, particularly in terms of navigation. Its laser and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable as other robovacs, meaning it is sometimes stuck or confused in certain areas of your home. It's also not able to climb stairs as well as other models and isn't equipped with a docking station to create a cleaning area for plush carpets.

Although it doesn't have as much in the way of cleaning-related options in its app or as many shortcuts within the app as some other robovacs, the Freo X Ultra is still an excellent choice for those looking for a comprehensive mop and robot vacuum that's worth the premium price price.

If you're looking to save some money or simply don't care about the limitations of this machine, there are plenty of alternatives available with a wide range of eufy models that cost considerably less. The eufy Qrevo Curv, for example is less expensive and provides an identical experience on the app with more features, including stair climbing, a full-function dock, and better overall vacuuming performance on bare floors as well as high- and low-pile carpets.

Eufy is an Anker company that has an established track record of making robot vacuums with the right balance of performance, features, and price.
