We utilized this robot to vacuum and mop a mix of pile rugs, FLOR carpet tiles and hardwood floors in a large, open house floor layout. It was able to vacuum and mop the area of 90m2 in 170 minutes using FREO Mind enabled. This is about average for Gen 4 robots.

In our test of how well it cleaned baking soda from corners and baseboards the Scout RX3 was impressive. Its suction of 2,500 Pa was a little weaker than some other robots, however, it moved swiftly and was extremely quiet. It didn't mop, and its cleaning pad that was removable was a challenge to attach. It also was unable to handle dirt that was dried on.

Its app isn't equipped with advanced features like multiple cleaning modes or automated vacuum cleaner scheduling. It does work with Alexa, but its voice controls aren't particularly precise or responsive. It's also a little erratic when it comes back to the charging station after a run. Other robots can follow the wall or trace the previous route however the RX3 stumbles around until it quits.

We also encountered issues with the smart features of the device, such as its mapping feature and digital stay-out zones. It was effective in keeping our furniture legs and shoes away but it was easily hanging up on cables, socks, and rug. We didn't include the Scout RX3 on our best self cleaning vacuum Buy list. With a decent price tag and impressive performance it's a Scout RX3 is worth considering if you're looking for an alternative to the traditional uprights.
