World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its stats increase in value. This is the sum of all of its leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, depending on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to the fact that many perks must be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

Item level is a commonly used measurement of power and can be seen on all tooltips of items. It can also be used to determine a gating condition when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). The average item level can be found on the character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell gear players can evaluate the levels of the item. It's a good indicator of an item's quality and how much damage it will be capable of dealing with. Comparing items from a vendor's stock can be done by using the item's level.

On PC, you are able to view the item upgrader kit level by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are many theories about the method by which the level of an item is determined. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different values and sockets have gems that increase the item's overall value. This could result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is typically very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

However, this isn't the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, since the level of the region the item was dropped in could change the value of its stats, for example by adding an amount to its crit rating or haste rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant component of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the Best item upgrader." The base stats on a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat mods, which are themselves enhanced by the player's level.

Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats on the item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while items with rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.

Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can be used to give the item extra damage, or give a specific capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or reducing the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting an exclusive name to the item.

Currently, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circling arrows. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other rerolling options.

In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can select which of the available stats to be kept on an item after it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges for an item are determined by the level of the item, however all items are guaranteed to have at least one stat within the specified range, unless it's an item that is unique or the result of a God roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another thing that could be altered by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or selecting which stats to boost. As with the base equipment, it would have to be done per item and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops, and the intensity of the properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players a possibility to obtain better equipment earlier in the game, and is therefore more beneficial in the early game than later ones because most players value greater weapon scaling and defense over damage gains.

Luck can also increase the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance which increases with each item level and can be further enhanced through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can be created or spawned with the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant an additional +40 Luck, or to increase the existing Luck of an item, up to 140.

Certain items, such as the weapon that is infused with hollow, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any ability that deals damage by five percent. These items can be found in the shops or made using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their chances of success or even prevent themselves from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.

The success rate of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limitations to the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the probability of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%.

The luck of an item can influence the success of an upgrade. All items have a success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects can be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
