Top Rated Robot Vacuums

robot-vacuum-mops-logo-text-black-png-original.jpgA robot vacuum will keep the floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency with which you'll need to manually vacuum. Pick a robot vacuum with good navigation, can clean corners and stairs and also has a large bin that only needs to be emptied periodically.

There are models that can mop and charge themselves which can be important for people with pets or children. A majority of the top performers in our tests have excellent obstacle avoidance.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO are both identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has best self cleaning vacuum-emptying features. The i3+ is a good alternative for those who want a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot once it gets full.

Both robots are good in removing dirt and dust particles on hard floors and carpets and are able to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart map of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test the i3+ does not have a feature for avoiding obstacles, so it may get stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends that you tidy the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might come across. It's also a good idea to keep the bin and filter clean so that they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning from where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and takes about three hours to recharge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most important feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or via voice.

The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin, which removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, Top Rated Robot Vacuum which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines and to move around the room and vacuum a specific space. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to voice commands to the i7+ such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens and expels clean air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets, and then pick up large dust or crumbs. It comes with three suction modes that can be adjusted to the task. It can quickly change from handheld to floor robot vacuum, and vice versa.

This model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also provides an easy access to two attachments and an wand. This is a major improvement over earlier Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its short run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its claims to run up to 60 minutes are not true. This is an average not an extraordinary run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. It's enough time to vacuum the typical home however, it's not enough time to reach every spot. (A second time generally works). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeable superior for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have lots of money to spend on an expensive robot. It was able to pick up all kinds of debris in our testing and often went over the same area many times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models such as our top rated robot vacuum picks such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. This means that it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently runs out of battery power before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects because it has fewer parts that need regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.

The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, because it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter its suction power mode manually and comes with physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built, has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on floors that are bare and carpets with low pile, while providing a greater variety of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name that is seen on a variety of home electronics, so it comes as no surprise that they're one of the most popular mop and robot vacuum manufacturers. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.

The app offers a wide range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior modifications docking frequency settings, and much more. It's easy to understand and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). However, it wasn't particularly well at avoiding taller objects like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we've tested and could be a deterrent for some shoppers.

The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature lets you keep track of your pets or children when you're away from home. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned to ensure a quick, painless clean smart robot-up. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that's self-emptying to keep the robot's dustbin clean and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning run.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for hard flooring. They come with a wide cleaning path and an extra-large dustbin that holds 2X more debris than other models to keep the cleaning area clean for the longest time. Plus, they include two side sweepers to clean along edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model includes AutoSense that automatically adjusts the power level according to whether it's picking up dirt that is on the surface or embedded. It also comes with a smart app that lets you view the virtual map and manage the functions and schedules. You can also monitor the battery's status and return it to its dock for charging at the push of one button. The app allows you to personalize the LED lights on top of the vacuum with different colors so you can clearly see which areas it's focused on or where it's gotten stuck.

For example my living room rug has a darkly colored border that can make it difficult for other robots I've tried. The HRV 425BL however continued to travel across the border without registering the cliff. And the ability to program the weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
