The iRobot j5+ performs well in our mopping and vacuuming stress test however it's not as effective as Ecovacs ' Deebot X2 omni. This makes the Combo J5+ a more flexible choice.

We used this robot to clean and mop a mixture of pile carpet tiles, FLOR rugs and hardwood floors in an open, large floor layout. It was able to vacuum and mop the 90m2 space in 170 minutes with FREO Mind enabled. This is a bit more than the average for Gen 4 robots.

The app doesn't have advanced features like multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It is compatible with Alexa but its voice controls aren't precise or responsive. It's also a little erratic when it comes back to the charging station after an exercise. Other robots can follow the wall or trace a previous route however, the RX3 bumbles around until it gives up.

We also had issues with the smart features of the device, including its mapping feature and the digital stay-out zones. It was effective in keeping our furniture legs and shoes away however it could easily get hung up on cables, socks, and rugs. That's why we chose not to include it in our Best Buy list. Still, with a decent price and a dazzling performance it's a Scout RX3 is worth considering if you're looking for an alternative to the traditional uprights.
