Armour

The fundamental idea behind armour is to safeguard animals or people from harm or injury whether from physical attack or from a range of dangers to the environment or activity. Historically, the majority of armour was made of fabrics or leather, however metal protections were also employed particularly for military purposes such as heavy cavalry and combat drones.

As with weapons there are a variety of ways that armour can be upgraded, but most will require visiting one of the four Great Fairy Fountains located throughout Hyrule. Each fountain comes with its own degree of upgrades available and more will provide higher levels of protection, and requiring a higher cost in rupees and the materials needed to unlock.

The first thing you need to know about Armor Upgrades is they are permanent upgrades and once they've been applied they can't be replaced unless there is another piece of equipment that comes with the same upgrade. It is important that you only apply the most effective level of upgrades to your gear and that you have enough of the necessary materials to complete the upgrade.

When it comes to acquiring the upgrade components needed, you'll find them all over Hyrule, including shrines, shops and even enemies. They are usually marked with a gold circle or a blue triangle, and are available in large numbers as you move through the game. They could appear randomly, however there is a chance that obtaining certain upgrades will trigger a quest which will reward you with even more.

It's important to note that even though the amount offered by each upgrade could differ, it will always be higher than zero. This is due to the fact that a full set of upgraded armor will give you a significant defense boost that protects you from all types of attacks, except magic and makes it a formidable weapon for any class.

Weapons

You can upgrade your guns by using special upgrades to create a truly unique weapon. They can increase the damage, change the weapon's stats to cater to your particular build and even unlock new attachments, such as unique enchantments, ammo types, and aesthetic options.

To upgrade a weapon, you'll need an upgrade component in place and the Item Upgrade. The weapon must also be above a certain level for the upgrade to be effective and most weapons can only take one upgrade at one time.

You can find weapons upgrade components scattered across the globe and from enemies or bought from a merchant. Upgrade components are a mix of ingredients that you can incorporate into armors, weapons trinkets, tools for gathering and other items in order to gain an attribute bonus. The equipment must be at a certain level to accept the upgrade. It is able to be upgraded in the same way as other items.

The upgrades themselves are a mix of Smithing Stones and Runes, and they are used to improve the base stats of a weapon and enhancing its scale with other stats. They can be found from enemies who drop them in the open world, bought from a few merchants, or obtained as drops in combat.

Two NPCs can upgrade your weapon: Blacksmith Hewg, located in the Roundtable Hold hub zone and the Smithing Master Iji located in the Road to Manor hub zone. Both of these NPCs will take your Smithing Stones and Runes in exchange for a more powerful version of the weapon and an upgrade.

It's crucial to prioritize upgrading your most-used items first, followed by those you won't be replacing in the near future. Upgrade your weapon first, then upgrade your chest, shoulders, hands, and feet when you are planning to play in a melee-based build. The same principles apply to Magic and Utility Items, with the caveat that certain procs may be better than others based on the style of play you prefer. Armour is not any different, with some Reforges being better than others.

Magic Items

A character is able to upgrade only one magic item at a time. If an upgrade project is cancelled then any subsequent upgrades for the item will not start. Upgraded magic items cost twice as much gold to make or purchase, but can have additional benefits.

A magical item is any item upgrader kit that has special properties or effects. These are typically weapons, but they can also be armors, shields and cloaks, as well as potions. They can also be rings, scrolls or other items. Some of these items can be made sentient.

Most magical items can be upgraded to be equipped with additional capabilities. This makes them more useful for a player, or it can aid them in overcoming any difficult situation. In addition to the items that are available in the regular inventory, players can unlock some more useful items of utility by buying them from the Atomic Shop and also from seasonal Scoreboard rewards (such as the Shadow Goggles). Certain of these items can be upgraded to allow more efficient use.

The majority of utility items boost a specific combat attribute or give the player a sort of advantage in navigation.
