It will even return to its dock to replenish its battery in mid-clean.

It's quick and does a great job of cleaning my two-bedroom apartment. It can vacuum carpeted rooms fast and hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen and hallways in just one pass. Its 8,000pa motor is able to pick up dirt, pet hair, and even droppings easily. Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes in contact with carpets and the two side brushes help draw away debris from corners.

The mopping performance, though still impressive, is not as effective. The mop's rotating motor spins at a high speed and it pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly scraping away dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arms extend out slightly more than other robots, which is useful for getting into tight corners and along baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to collect larger debris such as books and toys that have been damaged.

The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mop and vacuums I've tested. It is quieter and doesn't make as much noise when mopping or vacuuming. The only drawback is that the S1 Pro must use a proprietary cleaning solution for mopping and is separate from the vacuum. It is easy to set up and works well. However when you purchase this robot vacuum solely for mopping purposes you must pay attention to this.

The Matrix Plus also did a remarkable job at collecting hair of pets. It was able to collect the majority of hair that shed by our cats and even was able to get into the nooks and crevices of our stairs while other robots struggled. The noise levels were low and there were nice jingles to let you know that it was starting and working towards its goal.

The app was too simple and you had to change the modules every time you changed between vacuuming and mopping. The app can't save multiple maps. This can be an issue if your home has several floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those who want an intelligent robot that can perform both vacuuming and mopping.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that can be found in our review, but it comes with some distinctive features that are worth taking into consideration. The X1 Omni is most well-known for its huge dock that doubles as a charging base for the robot, a sink for cleaning and two water tanks of 4 liters. It also houses the 2.5-liter dust bin and an 2.5 dust bin that is 2.5 liters.

The base comes with a couple of buttons for control that let you manually begin a cleaning task or recall the robot, or use the dock's auto-emptying procedure. Press two buttons to switch off the child lock. This is a nice feature for parents who are worried about their children messing around with the vacuum.

The X1 Omni like other robotic vacuums, utilizes its camera to spot furniture and obstacles in its path. It will stay clear of them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

This can cause the X1 to get stuck if it gets caught in a blockage, such as the power cable that is draped over a rug. It won't work until you untangle it manually. While it was not common, it was a frustrating experience when it happened particularly since the X1 Omni does not have an "stuck" status alert in its application.

Another issue that could be a problem is another issue is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically change between vacuuming and mopping modes during cleaning. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad however, the mopping pad isn't washed or dried between uses. This can cause mildew and mold.

On the bright side, the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad apparatus. It's a significant contrast to the basic black bases of rivals like Roborock or iRobot. It's also an impressive sight in a market dominated by clunky boxy models.
