Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also extremely quiet and can be used when you're at work or in school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house based on how dirty these areas are.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home via the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.
