Early evolutionists such as Erasmus Darwin (Charles’s grandfather) and Jean Baptiste de Lamarck believed that species were predetermined to change into another species. In South Korea, creationists won a few victories against evolution in high school textbooks. Why is Evolution Important to Humanity?

Evolution explains how the Earth and all its living species evolved. It is also one of the pillars of biology and helps scientists to understand how living things function and develop. Evolution also shows how different species are linked. Scientists study evolution to understand the natural world and also to make important discoveries like the development of new medicines.

The evidence for evolution of biological species is overwhelming. There is no other scientific theory that can explain so much about the universe as well as life on Earth, and it has been thoroughly tested and confirmed over many years. Many people, including some religious leaders, believe in the scientific theory of evolution. It is important to note that evolutionary biology doesn't conflict with religious beliefs, as the theory deals only with processes, objects, and events within the physical world.

It is vital to remember, however, that the evidence in favor of evolution is overwhelming. The evidence comes from a diverse variety of sources, including fossils, genetic studies, and the behavior of living organisms. The evidence is also independently verified by other scientists.

What is Creationism?

The most common type of creationist is the YEC. They believe that God created the universe exactly in the manner described in the Bible. YECs believe that the biblical account of the creation's six days is true, and that the universe and life on Earth began only recently.

Both forms of creationism deny the idea that scientific principles like biogenesis and natural selection can explain how life began on Earth. What is Creationism?

Publishers of high-school textbooks announced last week that they will remove references to evolution from their textbooks. The Society for Textbook Revise, an independent organization that is an offshoot of the Korea Association for Creation Research (KACCR) has been the driving force behind this drive. STR has won its first victory in taking away examples of the evolution of the horse and an avian ancestor, called the Archeopteryx, from textbooks. It is now focusing on removing snippets of Darwin's notorious finch research and on human evolution as well.

STR claims to have the support of 4,000 families and individuals. The goal, according to STR is to clear the world of what it calls "atheist materialism" which paints a negative view for students. It also aims to counteract the influence of American creationists in the country. A survey of biology students teachers revealed that a majority do not believe in evolution. The reasons for this aren't entirely evident, but they could be due to religion or the absence of creation scientists in the US.

The KACR has achieved a number of things in the past through lectures and seminar events. It publishes a bimonthly magazine called Creation and the book. One of them is a textbook on the natural sciences with a creationist viewpoint, which sparked interest in college communities. In 1991 the year 1991, a minister and professor began teaching Creation Science in one university and it continues to be taught to this day.

On August 6-7 1993, KACR hosted a second International Symposium on Creation Research. The event was held in conjunction with the opening of the World Expo in Daejeon. Six lecturers from the world, including ICR's John Morris, Duane Gish and Steven Austin spoke to audiences of several thousand. KACR and its members have been giving talks on creation science at major seminaries, too. KACR plans to create a Creation Science Education Center in the future.
