WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item level upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item however, they are always cheaper than buying new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item upgrades will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that are used to level up weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be bought by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. button, which will display an image of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current item upgrading level. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining the latest recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via various methods that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with several new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item level will cost less even if they are part of a different gear set.

The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the kind of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant modification is that crests have one use and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is Best item upgrade to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which will only be able to benefit from the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
